WE'RE ALL BUSINESS
(From the 2007 newsletter)

The Western Ontario Local Community Development Corporation (WOLCDC) endeavors to create and maintain a positive supportive environment for business within the three Towns of Bristol, East Bloomfield, and West Bloomfield. The three "B's" have remained steadfast to this credo. We have, since 1999, offered guidance to fledgling businesses and support to the well established.

Last year the WOLCDC offered interest free loans. Although ranging from $1000 to $4000, it has proven to be a real "shot in the arm" to a limited number of businesses. This service continues, and applications may be obtained from the East Bloomfield Village Hall, 585-657-7554 or the WOLCDC office 585-657-7966.

This year the three "B's" have placed a total of 6 (2 per town) kiosks. Kiosks are intended to serve as a show case for the community businesses. The WOLCDC would be happy to feature any literature developed by a business. This would be a most effective way to "get the word out." For details, contact Laura Ramsey, Executive Director at 585-657-7966.

New Decade - New Census
(From the 2007 newsletter)

Bristol will assist the United States Bureau of the Census in updating census addresses.

Together with the Bureau, we intend to provide accurate information which will influence New York State and Ontario County for the next decade. Our last census lead to the reduction of two congressional seats and a loss of millions of dollars in federal funds.

Your participation will not only assist congressional reapportionment, but with redistricting of the State legislative districts, planning for municipal infrastructure, funding allocations, transportation and health care. In truth, results will help in making decisions based on population and socio-economic characteristics.

Comprehensive Plan and Vision Statement
(From the 2007 newsletter)

In March of this year, the Town Board adopted Bristol's Comprehensive Plan. The resulting product, we believe, represents the interests of the vast majority of our residents.

Our 49 page plan will serve as a guide for any actions or regulations taken by Town committees and boards. All details of the community's plan have been expressed in Bristol's vision statement:
Preserve and encourage a clean, naturally beautiful rural environment with carefully planned commercial development, aesthetically pleasing, controlled residential growth, and increased recreational opportunities, while encouraging the preservation of agricultural lands.
Working together, implementation will be realized.

Constructive Construction
(From the 2007 newsletter)

Our Town has completed one capitol project, has two others under construction, and still another in the planning stage.

Just prior to the winter of 2007, the second floor of the Town Hall was insulated. Thermopane windows were installed and blown insulation was added to the wall cavities. The wind no longer whistles down the staircase. This helps dispel the belief that the building is haunted.

The transmission lines for Bristol Water District #1 are now being excavated by Bristol and Canandaigua forces. It is our intent to have 37,000 linear feet of pipe installed before Decenber 31st. All permits and approvals have been issued by the Health Department, DOT, Ontario County Public Works, DEC, and State Comptroller's Office. This special district will serve 77 properties and only those with this service will be assessed.

As a follow up to an energy audit, The Energy Crisis Committee has recommended that the Highway garage be renovated. Happily, all work has been financed by existing capitol project monies and the Town will realize immediate savings.

Finally, the Town Board has engaged an architectural firm to develop plans which will allow further for the better utilization of our Town Hall. Plans are all very preliminary, and as discussions progress, we will be anxious to obtain community input.

We are not only constructing to meet immediate needs. but we are building for the future.
