Zoning Board of Appeals

 

All zoning boards of appeals are directly given appellate jurisdiction by state law. Appellate jurisdiction is the power to hear and decide appeals from decisions of those officials charged with the administration and enforcement of the zoning ordinance or local law.

 

  • Members must be a resident of the Town of Bristol.  Please send your written letter of interest by mail or email, only written inquires will be considered.

  • What does a local zoning board do?

The primary role of a zoning board is to review and decide cases where a relaxation of the ordinance is sought or where there is an alleged error in a zoning decision.

  • Willing to become familiar with Bristol’s code: https://ecode360.com/BR4013 and help keep our Town’s and resident’s needs in mind when performing your service.
  •  
  • Attend 1 meeting a month, on the third Tuesday of the month.
  •  
  • Complete 4 hours of training per year. Training and mileage are paid for by the Town, and often can be done online.
  • Position is paid $600 per year.
