Gone But Not Forgotten

Tombstone Replacements for Our Revolutionary War Veterans
From Our Town Historian

I researched our Revolutionary War veterans and ordered eight more stones that were placed in Vincent Hill Cemetery. Last year we placed four in both Bristol Center Cemetery and Vincent Hill Cemetery. Below are pictures of the last group of stones at Vincent Hill plus Ephraim Wilder's stone in the Bristol Center Cemetery. We hope to have a dedication ceremony for these when we contact many of the local descendants to help with it. I have noticed a few more stones that need replacements. These are provided free from Veterans Service Agency after research of service records and photos of old stones or missing ones are provided. David Barnard of Community Service arranged for personnel to place the stones for us. Our Highway Department transported the stones to these cemeteries as they are responsible for maintenance of the abandoned cemeteries.

Some of the broken or missing stones of the Veterans I have not been able to document. I find now that there are War of 1812, Mexican, Spanish American, and Civil War Veterans needing replacement stones. More research is required however.
